Our Goals, Our Vision, Our Principles - Are You Interested?
Here are some of the principles we love to chat about. Are you interested? Come join us at one of our events. Bring your ideas and questions!
Are you interested in clearing up traffic and congestion? Let’s talk about how we advocate for Complete Neighborhoods. In a Complete Neighborhood, you can accomplish your daily activities — from getting to work to buying groceries — all within a short walk from home. Less time on the road means more time for you!
Are you interested in more affordable homes in Bothell? Let’s talk a little about how we suggest restrictive zoning be adjusted in Bothell to allow for Missing Middle housing alternatives such as triplexes, cottage courts, bungalow courts, ADUs, and similar gentle moderate-density solutions in what are currently restricted to single family housing zones. Let’s talk about how these ideas can expand housing options for renters and people of different income levels. And let's discuss how these changes can help seniors, young people, and people with special needs to live near their families, while still maintaining their independence.
Are you thinking about ways to encourage diversity and build a more inclusive Bothell? Let's chat about how we are too. People-oriented places should benefit people of all identities. We believe our ideas can be a positive force toward inclusion. At the same time, we're interested in the opportunities that engaging with underrepresented and historically-marginalized populations to widen our perspective. We're trying to learn how our ideas impact the whole of Bothell - including communities of color, LGBTQ+ people, and folks of all ages, beliefs, abilities, and incomes.
Are you concerned about parking in downtown Bothell? Let’s discuss our interest in shared parking solutions and “park once” options to visit multiple shops in one trip.
Are you concerned with speeding traffic and having your kids or elderly parents walk, bike, or scooter around Bothell? Let’s talk about our interest in safer roads through traffic calming, protected bike lanes, natural design solutions to slow traffic without signs, and the ways these ideas greatly reduce injuries and fatalities to pedestrians and cyclists while also making these roads more economically productive.
Are you interested in the city of Bothell being able to run a balanced budget and do more with the money they bring in? Let’s discuss how compact, new urbanist style development can “supercharge” our downtown and make each block much more productive than sprawl or strip malls while also making these more compact areas more walkable, vibrant, and turn them into desirable destinations.
Are you concerned about climate change? Let's imagine how we can build walkable neighborhoods closer to work, school, shops, and transit routes, and how this is one of the most powerful things we can do (bang for the buck) to combat climate change.
Are you interested in protecting Bothell's forests and streams? Let's figure out how we can intelligently plan for jobs and housing in Bothell -- for example, along the coming transit lines -- and by doing so, reduce pressure on our beloved green spaces. Let's figure out how we can see more green design and less concrete, whether in downtown or across the city, to create a healthier environment for the bees, birds and fish that we love.
